Atlassian Engineer – Middle
Overview:
SOFTSWISS is hiring a Middle Atlassian Engineer to join our Atlassian Team within the IT Department. You’ll take full ownership of our Atlassian ecosystem—Jira, Confluence, and Opsgenie. You’ll work closely with technical and business teams to build scalable solutions, automate complex workflows, and optimize enterprise-wide usage of Atlassian tools.
Purpose of the role:
As a Middle Atlassian Administrator, you will be responsible for the administration, customization, and optimization of Atlassian products across the organization. You will help tailor, automate, and extend Jira, Confluence, Opsgenie, and related tools to meet evolving business needs. Your focus will include plugin management, automation, integrations with third-party systems, and ensuring system reliability, scalability, and security while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities:
Administration and Maintenance
- Administer and manage Atlassian products: Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Opsgenie (Data Center / Server).
- Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of all Atlassian environments.
- Monitor system health, performance, and conduct troubleshooting for application bugs and performance degradation.
- Evaluate, test, and implement updates, new versions, and add-ons.
- Manage users, groups, and permissions, including integration with Active Directory, LDAP Customization and Automation Develop and maintain complex Jira workflows, screen schemes, field configurations, permission schemes, and notification schemes.
- Automate routine tasks and processes using Groovy scripting, REST APIs, ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira.
- Configure and optimize key Jira plugins: EazyBI, BigPicture, Email This Issue, Jira Workflow Toolbox, Tempo Timesheets, Insight Asset Management, Jira Misc Workflow Extensions.
- Integration Development Participate in the design and implementation of integrations between Atlassian products and third-party systems via REST APIs, webhooks, custom scripting.
- Support the development of secure, scalable, and well-documented integration solutions.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline cross-system workflows.
Support and Troubleshooting
- Provide advanced support and troubleshooting for Atlassian products and associated plugins.
- Perform root cause analysis and lead incident resolution for critical outages.
- Work closely with IT, business stakeholders, and development teams to implement reliable solutions aligned with best practices.
Process Improvement and Collaboration
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments (HR, Finance, Engineering, Operations) to align tooling capabilities with business needs.
- Document configurations, solutions, and integrations; maintain up-to-date technical documentation.
- Contribute to the development of governance standards, best practices, and optimization strategies.
Required Experience:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience administering Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and Opsgenie (Data Center / Server).
- Experience working in enterprise environments with 1000+ users.
- Proven experience in managing complex Jira workflows, permissions, reporting, and customizations.
- Practical experience with user and permission management integrated with IAM solutions (AD, LDAP, Azure AD).
- Technical Skills Proficiency in Groovy scripting, REST APIs, and automation within Atlassian products.
- Strong experience with key Atlassian add-ons: ScriptRunner, EazyBI, BigPicture, Tempo Timesheets, Automation for Jira.
- Understanding of JQL and SQL for advanced querying and reporting.
- Basic knowledge of Linux and SQL for application support and troubleshooting.
- Experience building and supporting integrations between Atlassian products and external systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proactive mindset with ownership of deliverables.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
- Intermediate English proficiency (B1+) and native-level Russian.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Atlassian migrations (e.g., Server to Cloud).
- Atlassian certification ACP-100.
