HR Generalist
Overview:
SOFTSWISS is hiring an HR Generalist to join our South Africa team. We are seeking a proactive and experienced HR professional to manage the full HR cycle, with a strong focus on employee relations, compliance, and HR administration, supporting our growing local team
Purpose of the role:
You will be responsible for ensuring smooth HR operations across the region, acting as the primary point of contact for employees and managers. This role includes managing employee relations, ensuring compliance with South African labour law, supporting recruitment, and maintaining accurate HR records. Your work will enhance employee experience while mitigating risks and supporting professional growth within the company.
Key responsibilities:
Employee Relations & HR Support (Primary Focus)
Act as the main HR point of contact for managers and employees in the region
Conduct onboarding 1-1 meetings, health checks, and engagement or pulse surveys
Support performance management processes (PDM, PIP)
Issue warnings and manage disciplinary procedures
Prepare and coordinate disciplinary hearings
Support preparation of documentation for CCMA-related matters
Ensure fair and consistent application of HR policies
Proactively identify and mitigate employee relations risks
Labour Law & Compliance (South Africa)
Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation
Monitor legal updates and implement necessary changes
Oversee statutory submissions (UIF, WCA, WSP, ATR)
Support processes related to maintaining target B-BBEE levels
Advise managers on labour law and procedural risks
HR Administration
Prepare and manage employment contracts and amendments
Maintain accurate personnel documentation
Support onboarding and offboarding processes
Ensure proper HR record-keeping in line with local requirements
Recruitment
Manage recruitment for local roles when required
Conduct screening and interviews
Perform background and reference checks
Support improvements in recruitment processes and candidate experience
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
3+ years of experience in a generalist HR role
Practical experience handling disciplinary processes and CCMA-related cases
Strong knowledge of South African labour law
Recruitment experience (bulk hiring in a Call Centre / BPO is an advantage)
Ability to work independently and manage the full HR cycle for a small team
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
High level of integrity and confidentiality
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
